Downloading Music
What do you think about free downloading of music? Is it wrong? Or is there no issue with it? Discuss.

Re: Downloading Music
it's just too easy... and it doesn't FEEL illegal, even if it is... because everyone does it. and even if that's no excuse... it's true.

Re: Downloading Music
Yeah it's pretty easy access especially if you only like one song by a certin band and you don't feel like buying an entire album just to get it (Or spending a dollar on it on Itunes but sometimes Itunes doesn't have certin songs)

Re: Downloading Music
I don't remember how it was that I learned about Mercedes Benz.com. About every three months they allow me to download 16 free songs of various genre.

Re: Downloading Music
That's a touchy subject...i suppose one or two songs on Limewire (or any P2P) is fine, but we all know that is never the case. the fact is that the Government doesn't do anything about it. without a reason not to do it other than morality we can all go overboard. i have not purchased a CD in YEARS, but my music collection is massive. I don't download full albums as much anymore (although i couldnt help it, sorry to Neaera and Dethklok!). i end up getting a lot of music through Limewire or friends. To tell you the truth i'm surprised there is still an industry at all, and that bands still put out after we steal time and time again. It's not ok, but it's the way our society is! in order for a complete and utter change we would need to completely change the way society handles everything. The only problem being a metalhead is that half of the things i listen to can't be found in stores. Even if they were, buying music is just a setback. you can get music free and faster without any punishment. Everyone does it and it's considered normal. you can't tell me that you think "oh, i don't know if i should do this...it's so bad!". all you do is point and click. that's what everyone does.
i just had an epiphany. Imagine if artists were payed from the government...that our taxes would permit the free sharing of music. that way all artists are payed and we are all free to music. Think of it, music is food for the SOUL, it should be free and shared. this is the best way to do i. Music is therepy. you listen to music when you sad or upset, angry, happy, in love, or any emotion IMAGINABLE. If music was all free like that, it would just be more...peaceful i think. Bands aren't being supported, but they ALWAYS help us out. we're all accustomed to freely taking music anyway, we might as well make it worth the band's while. If i sound loopy or like a communist let me know. it's a nice thought, but chances of it happening are slim.
i'm very sorry for the length, but i'm very opinionated about this. If you made it this far, thank you for reading.

Re: Downloading Music
The only reason I download is because a lot of the music I listen to can't be found in stores anywhere around here, and ordering online is inconvenient for me.

Re: Downloading Music
It's wrong, but the record companies don't make certain albums available in Hong Kong in record stores for me, and they don't make them available on iTunes either in other countries that I can legally download from... so it's their own fault.
If they'd release the stuff I want so I could actually buy it, things would be different.
Canada is awesome with their iPod tax and legal-illegal-downloads.
