    AFI Empty AFI

    Post by dashboard.murder Sat Oct 20, 2007 1:29 pm

AFI (A Fire Inside) is a FANTASTIC band that has been around for a few years.
They have an amazing sound and their lyrics are very powerful.

    Anyone else like them?

Their older stuff was alright, but now I think they're trying to fit in where they don't belong.

What do you mean, where they don't belong?

Meh, bad wording. I mean, they've sort of converted to a new genre, and they've taken to this exaggerated emo-type look. To me, it's like they're trying to be something just for the scene of it.

Hm. I guess i see what you're saying..
But i think that's the way they've always been.
I think they've always been into the whole 'emo-style' as you put it, but now that they're getting bigger, i think they're just getting better, lyrically and musically.
i don't necessarily see how they converted genres though.
but maybe that's just my opinion.

To me, their older music sounded different. Maybe it's just me...=\

    Well, it did sound different.
To me, it sounded not as good as their 'DecemberUnderground' or 'Sing The Sorrow' albums. Razz
Hah..one of their older songs that made me laugh was 'I want to get a mohawk, but my mom won't let me.'
It sounds really good, but the lyrics are hilarious.

I've heared people say they sold out on Sing the Sorrow but I don't think just because you change your sound it means you sell out. I just think they were trying out a new sound.
